October 10, 2012

A Season for Tending by Cindy Woodsmall

This first book of a new series by best selling author, Cindy Woodsmall captivated my interest to the point that I didn’t want to stop reading. It is set in the heart of Amish country in Pennsylvania. It traces the interactions of the Byler and King families, and particularly that of Rhoda Byler, a young woman, who has gift of intuition, often misunderstood by neighbors and members of her Amish community. Rhoda has a small business of a growing fruits of the vine and selling canned products, while the King family’s business is of that of apple production. Each family must deal with a problems brought on by a struggling economy and the forces of nature. As these two families interact, readers are caught up a world of family secrets, desires, personality differences, suspicions, and romance. It is easy to become so engrossed in the family dynamics that readers will want to continue following the characters of Rhoda Byler, Samuel, Jason and Leah King and their English friend, Landon as they go forward toward new adventures
